Kabylia's political and human rights activists are facing heavy criminal charges

According to the Facebook post of the attorney Fetta Sadat, today June 11th, 2025:


Algiers Court, Indictment chamber,


Today's decision, in the so-called Bejaia issue:


"Order the referral of the proceedings and the accused to the Criminal Court of First Instance, deny the request for provisional release of the accused in detention and  refusal of  request to return the seized objects."



The proceedings are initiated against:


01/ Attorney  Sofiane Ouali (free)


02/Mira Moknache, university professor and human rights activist (in detention).


03/Rafik Belayel (in custody).


04/Khoudir Bouchelaghem (in detention).


05/Tahar Achiche (in detention)


06/Salem Bouaza (in detention).


07/Lounes Ghegad (in detention).


08/Ghiles Benkerrou (in detention).


09/Mokrane Boudjema (under judicial review).


10/Malek Boudjema (under judicial review).


11/Mustapha Akouche (under judicial supervision).


12/Yuva Menguellat (under judicial review).


13/Mouloud Menguellat (under judicial review).



Note that the placement under a warrant of the accused in detention dates back to 18/07/2024.

In addition, all the accused are prosecuted and referred to the criminal court on the basis of the provisions of Articles 87 bis and 389 of the Criminal Code.


We're awaiting the scheduling of this issue before the criminal court of the 01 st degree of Algiers (Dar El Beidha).
