No respite from the Algerian military regime, it continues to stampede fundamental and universal human rights, particularly in Kabylia. On December 14th, 2025, Farid Hadjaz, who’s residing in Boudjima, in the province of Vegayth,  was arbitrarily arrested, apparently for expressing his opinion on social media. At this time, he is in custody, in Wad Ghir prison.

Also, on January 18th, 2026,  another peaceful man,  Nayer Nekkar, from Tala Athmane — a singer and author — was arbitrarily arrested and brutalized in presence  of his relatives while police forces proceeded for his arrest. He remains in custody, awaiting trial.

KHR organization is very alarmed about the continuing erosion of human rights in Kabylia, which has led to arresting and jailing over 500 innocent Kabyles. It urges the Algerian regime to make an end to the infringement  of  freedom of

speech, and immediately release all prisoners.
