The Poet Mohamed Tadjadit Condemned to 5 Years Imprisonment

Mohamed Tadjadit, a young poet, who already served an arbitrary sentence, was  again sentenced to 05 years of imprisonment and 200,000 da  fine by the criminal court of the 01st  instance of Algiers (court of Darelbeidha).

 

According to Fetta Sedat Esq., Mr, Tadjadit was prosecuted for over 06 counts, namely:

 

1.     Crime of apology for terrorist and destructive acts.

 

2.     Crime of using communication and information technologies to support the acts and activities of terrorist entities.

 

3.     Crime of spreading, directly or indirectly, the ideas of terrorist entities.

 

4.     Offense of insult to constituted body.

 

5.     Offense of exposure to the public of publications likely to harm the national interest.

 

6.     Offense of incitement to unarmed group,

 

7.     (Article 100a Linea 01,146, 87bis12, 87bis 04.96 of the Criminal Code) 

 

During the proceedings, the  representative of the public prosecutor had requested a 10 years prison sentence against him.

The representative of the Treasury called for the sum of 02 million dinars as compensation.


KHR organization denounces this arbitrary sentence aiming to silence any potential voice that targets the establishment of the Algerian military regime, and calls for his immediate release.
