Fethi Gherras Condemned to 2 Years Imprisonment

On October 21st, 2025, Fethi Gherras, the  national coordinator of the MDS party, which is subject to a judicial suspension decision, was sentenced to 02 years in prison and 300,000 AD fine, including the confiscation of his seized objects.

According  to his attorney  Fetta Sadat, Fethi Gherras was prosecuted on the basis of two charges, namely, contempt of constituted body (Article 146 of the Criminal Code) and dissemination of  false information, intended to harm public order and public security (Article 196 bis of the Criminal Code).

KHR organization is deeply concerned by the  continued repression of the Algerian military regime which is targeting politicians who dare to speak up and exercise their fundamental rights of freedom of speech and assembly.
