Shepherd in Kabylia
Shepherd in Kabylia

Prosecutors of the criminal court of Algiers requested 10 years imprisonment and a fine of 1 million dinars against a Kabyle shepherd from Tizi-Ouzou, who was accused of sharing on Facebook publications related to the Movement for the Self-Determination of Kabylia (MAK) and its president: Ferhat Mehenni.

This defendant is being prosecuted for:

  1. Apology for terrorist acts;

  2. Reproduction and dissemination of terrorist documents;

  3. Incitement to hatred and discrimination through communication technologies.

KHR organization is deeply concerned by these arbitrary charges that violate the mere fundamental human rights in order to quell freedom of speech. Therefore, we call on the Algerian military regime to drop immediately these charges pronounced against this Kabyle citizen.
